3-2-1 Real Estate Ready: On money, decisions, and long-term thinking

Weekly Newsletter SAMUEL VERA February 11, 2026

This week's three insights from me, two quotes from others, one question to carry with you...

I. Most people spend more time planning a two-week vacation than planning their financial future. Yet a vacation is temporary. Your financial decisions compound for decades. This isn't about being anxious—it's about being intentional. Spend 10% of the time you spend scrolling social media on understanding your money, and you'll be ahead of 90% of people.

II. The question isn't "Can I afford this house?" The real questions are: "Does this payment allow me to sleep at night?" and "Will this decision limit or expand my future options?" Affordability is math. Sustainability is wisdom. Banks will tell you what you can borrow. Only you can decide what you can carry.

III. Every dollar you spend on your home is a dollar you're not investing somewhere else. This isn't about being cheap—it's about being strategic. That extra bedroom you never use costs you monthly. That premium location adds up over thirty years. Think about opportunity cost, not just purchase price. The goal isn't the biggest house. It's the right house that leaves room for the rest of your life.

ONE QUESTION TO CARRY WITH YOU: What would your future self thank you for deciding today?
